FAQ

Check out this page before submitting requests!
If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to send me an email!

  • Fill out my online request form! If I approve your request, you will receive access to my booking site to select a time and leave a deposit.

In the approval email, I will tell you which sort of time slot to book and whether you need an in-person consultation first.

Please note that my availability is limited, and I may decline requests that do not align with my goals or fit with my existing portfolio.

  • Texts and messages through the Square app itself are the quickest ways of reaching me! I also check my email at least once per day. Clients who have an appointment on the books should have access to all 3 methods.

I only check Instagram once or twice a week, so I don’t recommend DMs.

  • Please refer to my request form for all pricing and deposit information. Thank you!

  • I primarily do neotraditional, new school, anime, illustrative, and my own personal style! I’m happy to work with both American Traditional and Japanese Traditional as well. My preference generally skews toward bold with well-defined structures.

I happily work in both color and black & grey!

  • I do not do micro tattoos, ultra fine line, hyperrealism, color realism, custom script, Polynesian, tribal, or blackouts.

Requests for tattoos that can be done as a walk-in are also declined. I take walk-ins for small tattoos on Fridays.

  • My primary goal is continued growth as an artist!

Right now, my focus is on doing custom pieces to build a fun niche for myself. I am actively seeking tattoos with the following themes (in no particular order):

Games, anime, characters, tabletops, MTG, witchy things, cottagecore aesthetics, characters, animals & creatures, fantasy, and sci-fi.

This isn’t a comprehensive list; I’m open to similar or adjacent subject matter!

  • I do! If you’re interested in my design catalogue, you’re welcome to swing by the shop in person to take a peek, even if I’m not there.

I am happy to do my custom flash as walk-ins on Fridays, or as scheduled appointments.

I require appointments for all my unique, one-off designs.

  • I take walk-ins for small tattoos on Fridays! You are welcome to call the shop to check availability, but walk-ins are first-come, first-served.

Calling in does not constitute an appointment.
Unless you have left a deposit, you are a walk-in!

  • No hard feelings! Sometimes a certain idea isn’t up my alley, and sometimes the availability isn’t a match. If you’re curious, you’re welcome to send me an e-mail for additional details on why the request has been declined.

Otherwise, you’re welcome to submit a new request with a different idea!

Please do not submit repeat requests for tattoos I’ve already declined.

  • I only perform these services for established repeat clients who have previously booked appointments with me (not walk-ins).

    In-person consultation required.

  • While I can’t guarantee I will be available to chat with you if you come into the shop randomly, you can always stop by on Fridays (when I take walk-ins) to see if I have time for a quick chat.

Generally, the simplest process toward booking an appointment is to fill out my request form.

  • If your request is approved, send me an email and we can find a time for you to come into the shop in person and leave a cash deposit!

Please note that I am not able to hold appointment timeslots until the deposit has been made.

  • Absolutely. Our lovely counter folks can also assist with checking the balance on gift cards should you need it.

  • Yes! Some designs are based on my flash, and I’ll tattoo them on anyone. These tend to be the smaller pieces.

Other designs are unique, and I will only tattoo them once out of respect for the client. These tend to be the larger or more elaborate pieces.

Both are clearly labeled. Check the art page or shop listing for details!

Please note I will not tattoo custom art commission work unless it’s going on the original client or explicitly stated otherwise.

  • I am currently available for either portraits or illustrations done in watercolor. Both come with a few specific rules; please see my commissions page for more info!

  • Due to my obligations to Silverblood and Tidehead Studios, it’s unlikely that I will have time in the near future to create assets for other projects.

However, I am open to being hired as an arts consultant for other projects! I excel in character design, environment design, visual storytelling, and style development. Feel free to send me an email!

  • I charge by the piece for all painting commissions; most prices are based on paper size. Some rough guidelines for private works are listed on my commissions page.

Commercial works are by quote only

  • This is subjective and highly dependent on the size and complexity of the piece. Estimates can range from a couple weeks to several months.

Once the details are solidified, I will give clients a time estimate, and keep them apprised of any situations that may affect the amount of time needed to complete the piece (such as illness or other unforeseen circumstances).

Clients are always welcome to reach out with questions!

  • Original paintings can either be picked up from Blvck Rose Tattoo in person, or I can mail them to you.

Paintings are packaged in a protective acid-free plastic sleeve, then sandwiched between cardboard or foam core to prevent bending.

When mailed, this is placed inside a dedicated shipping box. All shipped artwork is insured.

  • A private art commission is something the buyer purchases for their own enjoyment, such as a painting to hang in their home.

The client is the end-user, and the artwork itself is not used to advertise, promote, or otherwise generate profit for the client or their interests.

  • Commercial artwork is created with the intent of providing an asset to the client that they can use to advertise, promote, or otherwise generate profit. A few examples:

Illustrations for a storybook are commercial artwork because they are components of a salable product.

Custom graphics for streams and websites are commercial artwork because they exist to promote the user and build their brand.

The beautiful art on the event poster for your local nonprofit is commercial artwork because it exists to advertise the company’s services, regardless of its nonprofit status.

A good rule of thumb: commercial artwork is everything except “I like this, and I want to keep it for me/gift it to a friend.”

  • The answer is fairly simple; the artist deserves to be paid for their work commensurate with the extent of its use.

It is completely normal (and encouraged) in the industry for artists to charge more money for commercial projects than they charge for private commission work.

  • It’s not open quite yet! :’) Apologies. I’ll have it active soon!

  • Merch ships from Hudson, Massachusetts unless otherwise stated!

  • Most orders can expect to be shipped the following Friday after the order was made.

Check the website for announcements regarding shipping details; the shipping schedule will always be a bit different while I’m away at a guest spot or convention.

  • Yes! Your order will be available to pick up from Blvck Rose Tattoo beginning the Friday after you placed the order.

  • Yes! I am at the shop on Fridays and Saturdays, and currently alternate Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Feel free to email me if you’d like to find a time to stop by!

I am also there on event days, which often take place on Sundays.

  • Check first to make sure that the listing isn’t a limited edition item! Limited edition items will not come back into stock once they’re gone, but the listing will remain up to help authenticate the item as original.

This is mainly important for art prints, but don’t be surprised if you find some limited edition stickers, pins, or others as well!

Otherwise, items that are on reorder/backorder will have that noted on the listing.
